Certification of the steel and aluminium structure manufacturers
The condition for marketing steel and aluminium structures in the European Union is conformity to the standards EN 1090 on the basis of the Construction Product Directive (89/106 EEC-CPD) or its Hungarian equivalent, and the Construction Product Regulation (305/2011/EU-CPR), and certification according to EN 1090-1. In addition, steel and aluminium products must carry the CE mark and a declaration of performance. Affixing the CE mark on steel and aluminum structures has been possible since 1 January 2011 and will be compulsory, after an extended transitional period, from 1 July 2014.
The harmonized EN 1090 standards comprise three parts
- EN 1090-1: Conformity (performance) assessment and conformity marking
- EN 1090-2: Requirements for the execution of steel structures
- EN 1090-3: Requirements for the execution of aluminium structures
