Testing and certification of cosmetics

The compounds of basic materials and additives that can be found in cosmetics used in everyday life, such as skin care products, toiletries and make-up products, may often produce allergic skin reactions. Many of them even contain fragrances which may represent further risks to customers and distributors alike.

In order that you can minimize the risk inherent in distributing hazardous products, you must fully and demonstrably comply with many international and national legislative requirements such as the Cosmetics Directive 76/768/EEC, the decree of the Ministry of Health no. 40/2001 (XI. 23.) and the decrees related to product safety and packaging.

Our experts can provide you with support starting from product development through to distribution so that the products manufactured or sold by your company comply with the strictest legislation and gain advantage in the increased competition.

Our services:

  • Chemical and physical tests
  • Analysis of components
  • Analysis of toxic metals

  • Issue of test protocols, expert appraisals and expert opinions
  • Preparing of labels and notices to customers
  • Certification and issue of certificate of mark use

Why submit your products for testing?
The applicable legislation only ensures the safety of cosmetics at the regulatory level, expecting of manufacturers and distributors to observe the legislation, but such regulations do not always guarantee the real safety of products.

Therefore, it is necessary to have product quality certified, and to obtain an expert opinion which proves that the cosmetics do not contain any substances subject to restrictions and thus they have no harmful effects.

For customers, the safety of cosmetics is a must, and the EU also handles this issue as a priority. The number of prohibited substances increased from 451 in 2004 to 1,328 in 2008. Due to the frequent and significant changes in regulations, many cosmetics available on the market are not compliant with the applicable requirements.
It may also happen that inappropriate products manufactured in other countries are put on the market.

Advantages for you:

  • Full compliance with legislation
  • Meeting supplier criteria set by retail chains
  • Avoiding fines imposed by consumer protection authorities
